What a stunning Knock by the Prince of Kolkata, Saurav Ganguly !

Saurav once again proved that he is a strong contender for the 20-20 format of the game He brilliantly shows how to tackle the chasing situation when wickets are falling at regular intervals. There are already several baseless remarks from the young cricketing heroes that 20-20 cricket is not fit for the senior players. But this knock from the Prince of Kolkata is a strong reply to his criticisers.

The match against the Mohali Kings Eleven lead by Yuvraj Singh has not much significant for Knight Riders, but the win against a team that assured the semi final berth is definitely a morale booster. Ganguly who opened the innings with Salman Butt lead the team to the winning position and remains unbeaten on 86 just from 53 balls. Thanks to the brilliant bowling and quick fire works from Umar gul who won the Man of the Match. Award for his performance.

When the wickets were falling at regular intervals, Ganguly utilised all his experience to score runs. He is on the attacking mood in the slog overs of the match. He attacked the young leg spinner Piyush Chawla (2-36) and smashed him for 6,4,6 in the first three balls of his final spell. Irfan Pathan bowled the final over of the match and the non-striker was Ishanth Sarma. 15 Runs required for a win in the final over. Ganguly hit the first ball of the last over to a huge six and took two runs in the second ball. Then the third ball also has the same result as the first ball. A wonderful sexy six came from the willow of Dada and a single in the next ball lead Kolkata Knight Riders to a thrilling win.
Ganguly's knock of 86 not out off 53 balls with striking rate 162.26 is the highest individual innings at the Eden Gardens in IPL and he amassed 349 runs at an average of 29.08 in IPL with three fifties.

The main problem with the knight riders for the miserable defeats in the previous matches was that they didn’t have a good opening combination. Ganguly insisted Adam Gilchrist in place of Brendon Mccullum during the team selection but Sharukh was not interested in Gilchrist. Mccullum performed well in the opening match of IPL but his absence in the remaining matches was a critical problem to Kolkata knight Riders. If Gilchrist was included in the team in place of Mccullum as Ganguly intended, the knight riders will definitely ensure there spot in the semi-final berth.
