Virat Kohli hit powerful 117 and Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 90, to guide India to a 5-wicket win over West Indies to lead the series 2-0. Rampaul's all-round show (86 not out and 2/62) was not enough to rescue West Indies from the second defeat in the series. This is 11th consecutive win for India at home.

After winning the toss Indian captain Sehwag decided to field first. West Indies lost 8 wickets in 30.5 overs. At that time their score was only 149. Ravi Rampaul smashed 86 not out off 66 balls and made an unbroken 99-run stand with Kemar Roach which helped Windies to achieve a comfortable score of 269/9. The first series loss for India since 2008 and MS Dhoni's first series loss as captain. In what manner captaincy of Gambhir helped KKR to reach the knockout stage? Whatmore (Coach of KKR), Shahrukh and team management, are merely engaged in praising captaincy of Gambhir. How it works. Facts reveal another story. In IPL 3, KKR won 7 out of 14 games, now they won 8 out of 15. As an aggressive batsman, their captain Gambhir didn’t even appear among the top 15 run scorers of IPL 4. So his contribution to KKR with bat is not so impressive. Compared to former KKR squad, their IPL-4 squad is blessed with lot of quality all rounders like Kallis, Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan …etc. So lots of resources are there for Gambhir to use and experiment. However nothing will came to support his tactics.

So in IPL-5, we can expect lot of surprises from SRK. KKR is the only team which always focusing on more experimentation every year. Too much tactics, but no better results. Who knows, SRK will bestow the captaincy to Kallis or Pathan. Let’s wait and See!

Two former players of KKR, Hodge and Gayle, both played crucial knocks for their respective team’s victories against KKR. Gayle hit a blistering century for Bangalore which thrashed Kolkata’s hopes; now Hodge played a cameo of 35 not out from just 19 balls, which helped Tuskers to get a win over Kolkata Knight Riders. Hodge hit two sixes and as many fours to take 21 runs off Brett Lee in the last over of the match.
Local guys Raiphi Gomez (4-1-14-2) and Prasanth Parameswaran (4-0-21-0) bowled extremely well and their bowling spell cost much damage to KKR’s chasing. Raiphi Gomez dismissed Kallis(45 runs from 41 balls) and rival skipper Gautam Gambhir (0) off successive deliveries to bring the home team right back in the match. Opener Morgan and Yusuf Pathan (17) tried to accelerate the innings but only ended up in a terrible mix-up resulting in Morgan's run out. He scored 66 runs from 51 balls.
Earlier, put into bat, skipper Jayawardene led from the front, scoring a half century(55 from 41 balls) which helped KTK to post a challenging 156 for five.

Kochi have given a perfect Vishu (Kerala New Year) gift for Kerala by achieving their first win in the IPL. The crowd at the Wankhede was dejected despite Tendulkar crafting a century as Kochi Kerala Tuskers, the new entrants of IPL, successfully chased the huge score of 182 in the 19th over itself. Brilliant fifties from Brendon McCullum (81 from 60 balls, 10 fours, 2 sixes), Mahela Jayawardene (56 runs from 36 balls, 9 fours) and their 128 run opening stand helped Kochi to achieve the target easily. Rohit Sarma dropped an easy catch of McCullum in the very first ball of Kochi Tuskers' innings bowled by Malinga. Malinga was surprisingly off- colour and his second over cost 17 runs with McCullum hitting three of the four boundaries in that over.
Master of the game, Sachin hit his first IPL century from 66 balls (12 Fours, 3 Sixes) which helped his team to score a mammoth 182 for 2 in their quota of 20 overs. Tendulkar was well supported by the impressive Ambati Rayudu (53 from 33 balls, 3 Fours, 4 Sixes) as the pair added 116 runs for the second wicket in just over 11 overs.

ENGLAND WON ASHES BEATING AUSTRALIA BY AN INNINGS AND 157 RUNS IN THE MELBOURNE TEST.

England has retained ASHES by winning the fourth test in Melbourne by an innings and 157 runs. After losing the third Test at Perth, England dominated the fourth test by restricting Australia for just 98 runs in the first innings. James Anderson and Chris Tremlett are the bowling heroes for England. They took 4 wickets each in the first innings on a pacer friendly track. However Aussie bowlers didn’t get any assistance from the Melbourne Pitch. England replied in style with scoring 513 runs in the first innings powered by Trott's unbeaten 168.

England bowlers once again rose to the occasion on a flatter wicket and troubled the Aussie batsmen with menacing swing. Australia didn't manage to put up any fight and were bowled out for 258, thus losing the match and along with it, the Ashes. This is also Australia's biggest loss against England since Old Trafford 1956! In the second innings, Tim Bresnan took 4 wickets and Graeme Swann took two.

Ricky Ponting becomes the first Aussie captain to lose the Ashes 3 times! The fifth and final test will be held in Sydney next week.

Australia’s misery in Test Cricket continues. After losing the test series in India, their hopes are on the Ashes which is playing in their country. However England have been ruthless and professional. They won the second test of Ashes in Adelaide by an innings and 71 run and have taken a 1-0 lead. This is England's 100th Test victory over Australia.

After winning the toss, Australia could only managed to score just 245 runs in the first innings. Double century from Kevin Pietersen (227 runs, 33 fours, One Six) and century from Alastair Cook (148 runs, 18 Fours) helped England to post a huge 1st innings score (620/5). Chasing 375 runs to avoid innings defeat, Australia were all out for 304 runs. Graeme Swan was the key bowler for England taking 5 wickets in the second innings. This is 10th 5 wicket haul for Swann and first against Australia. Steven Finn and James Anderson took two wickets each. Kevin got the precious wicket of Michael Clarke (80 Runs) who was the top scorer of Australia in the second innings. Michael Hussey (93 & 52runs) and Shane Watson (51 & 57 runs) are the two who scored valuable runs for Australia in both innings of the test match. Ponting is passing through a prolonged slump in form and that is affecting his side.

Australa will miss the service of Simon Katich who ruled out of the Ashes with an achilles injury. For England, the injury to Stuart Broad is a major blow.

Another comprehensive victory for India. India won the series 3-0 beating New Zealand by 9 wickets in the third ODI at Vadodara. Having rested key players like Sehwag, Tendulkar, Raina, Dhoni and Harbhajan, this young team played like champions of the game. After winning the toss India decided to field first. Dangerous Brendon McCullum went for a duck. Zaheer & Co are in brilliant form and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. James Franklin (72 from 108 balls, 5 Fours, 1 six) and Nathan McCullum (43 from 53) helped New Zealand to score 229 runs in the 50 overs. Zaheer Khan, Ashwin and Yusuf Pathan took two wickets each.

Indian openers were off to a blazing start scoring 118 runs in 18.4 overs. Gambhir who led from the front scored unbeatable 126 runs (117 balls, 16 fours) and steered India to a massive win. Gambhir became the 8th Indian to score back to back centuries.Kohli remains not out on 63 (70 balls, 6 fours, 2 six). This is Kohli's 4th consecutive fifty plus score in ODIs. Dhoni played major role in eliminating Dada and Dravid from the ODI team citing fitness problems and need of aggressive batting. SEHWAG COMPLETES 7000 RUNS IN TEST MATCHES

The dashing Indian opener Virender Sehwag completed 7000 Test runs during his unbeaten knock of 97 on the second day of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka.

31-year-old Sehwag reached the milestone in his 79th Test. He equaled Garry Sobers’ record of fastest 7000 runs in terms of Tests at an average of 54.89.. The West Indian all rounder also completed his 7000 runs in 79th Test. Sehwag is the 38th batsman overall to have scored 7000 runs.

Sunil Gavaskar was the first Indian to complete 7000 runs in Test cricket.The other Indians in the list are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly.

Sehwag also completed 1000 fours in test cricket during his knock of 97.

Just remember the stylish shot he played against Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural match of IPL. There are no words to explain the caliber of our brilliant all rounder Ravindra Jadeja. If India loses early wickets he becomes the savior of our team. His aggressive batting style will surely bring back the 20-20 title to India.
So I think these three are the best players in the 20-20 squad.

Robin Uthappa for Ravindra Jadeja

When a team fails in a final, decision took by the captain is always questioned? Dhoni is a good captain with a lot of luck. He is an expert in handling pressure situations and won several matches for us. The only problem with him is that he doesn’t try to utilize the entire resources of the team.

All spinners got wickets and their economy rate is very low compared to that of the fast bowlers. But only Harbhajan is allowed to complete the ten overs. When the strike bowlers are not performing, every captain should utilize their slow bowlers according to the situation demands. Jadeja is a good bowling option in this wicket, but he was given only 7 overs.

Another surprising fact is that Dhoni never use the all round capabilities of Sachin and Sehwag. Both of them are experts in getting important wickets in crucial situations. But under the captaincy of Dhoni, the two always remain as specialist batsmen. So we are forced to believe that Dhoni has some hidden agenda. He only treats Yuvraj, Raina, Jadeja and even Virat Kohly as all rounders.

A dashing player like Sehwag should not be rested in future ODI matches. This tournament witnessed such unwanted experiments. Remember, Sri Lanka’s key player Dilshan is not allowed to take rest in the insignificant match against India.

Kolkata Knight Riders have swapped all-rounder Moises Henriques for Delhi Daredevils batsmen Owais Shah and Manoj Tiwary. Henriques who was signed up by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the second edition of the IPL for 300,000 dollars had limited success for the Kolkata outfit. Owaish Shah was part of the Delhi Daredevils team in the second edition of the tournament in South Africa but did not get a game. However this Englishman played four matches for Delhi Dare Devils, scoring a total of 74 runs at a strike rate of 105.71.
Interesting news is that Delhi buying out the contract of Glenn McGrath, one of the all-time greatest fast bowlers who didn’t get a single game in IPL-2 held in South Africa.

Rahul Dravid, batting stalwart, showed us once again why he is known as Mr. Consistent.He is in sparkling form in both 20-20 and ODI’s. But justice denied to this batsman of great caliber. Our blind selectors simply ignore this specialist batsman in the ODI series against Australia. They have no reasons for eliminating Dravid from ODI squad. In that series, the first down position became a gambling for Captain Dhoni. He experimented with Gambhir, Kotli and Raina, but the result was the same. In the last ODI against Australia, Indian batsmen failed to connect the swinging balls of Johnson.

The same scenario is repeated in the first test match against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad. Young Bowler Welegedara who was playing just his second Test, destroyed the top order with swinging deliveries. India was tottering at 32/4 but recovered to post their highest score on the first day of a test match with the masterly innings from the Wall. Yuvraj and Dhoni supported Dravid with their brilliant knocks of 68 and 110.

On stumps of First day, Dravid remains unbeaten on 177 runs (26 Fours, One Six, 251 balls) and he surpassed the 11,000 mark becoming the fifth-highest run-getter in Tests.

Former Umpire David Shepherd Passes away

David Robert Shepherd, one of the cricket world's best-known umpires who passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was 68. This former England umpire stood in 92 Test matches between 1983 and 2005 and officiated in in 172 ODIs, including three consecutive World Cup finals. He made his international debut at the 1983 World Cup and His last Test match was between West Indies and Pakistan in Kingston in June 2005.

Every one remembers his famous hopping when the score would be on “Nelson"(i.e .111/1, 222/2 …etc)

Injury again hitting the Champions trophy campaign of India.India's middle order strength and aggressive left hander Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy following a fracture to his right hand fingure. He has been advised to rest for six weeks and Virat Kohli has been named as Yuvraj's replacement. Gautham Gambhir will be the Vice Captain of the team.

India's first match in the Champions Trophy is against arch rivals Pakistan which is on September 26.In the recent matches, Yuvi was in excellent form with both bat and ball. Like Sehwag, he can single handedly change the entire scenario of the match. This will be a great blow to Dhoni & Co. considering their weakest bowling department.

Again a threat for Australian dominance in the longest version of the game of glorious uncertainties. England beat Aussies by 115 runs in the second test of the Ashes and now they are leading the series by 1-0. The lower order of Aussies batting (Especially Mitchel Johnson- 63 from 75 balls) tried their level best to avoid the much expected defeat. However, Andrew Flintoff threw away the hopes of Aussies by claiming five wickets for just 92 runs and adjudged the Man of the Match.

Captain Andrew Strauss (161), Alastair Cook (95) provided major contributions to England’s first innings total of 425 runs. James Anderson’s bowling performance (55/4) reduced the first innings total of Aussies to mere 215 runs. England then decided to start their second innings and scored 311 for the loss of 6 wickets. Second Innings of England was a good team work, each of the top orders contributed. Thanks to the firing knocks by the England Wicket Keeper Mathew Prior (61 runs from 42 balls).

Chasing a mammoth total of 521 runs, Australia could only manage to score 406 runs. Michael Clark top scored with 136 runs and wicket keeper supported him with 80runs. The stand in spinner for Montey Panesar, Graham Onions, took four wickets which include the precious wicket of Michael Clark.

How is this victory remarkable? The Ashes victory of England at Lord’s came after a long gap of 75 years. Another fascinating fact is that umpiring decisions favored England for winning this test match. Simon Katich out for a no ball. Slip catch of Phillip Hughes taken by Andrew Strauss was not referred to the third umpire. Instead leg umpire Rudi Koertzen showed the signal for out. Mike Hussey declared out for a dubious decision. So Aussies suffered a great loss through umpiring decisions, to some extent the same reasons that helped Aussies to win the second test against India in Australia, which lead to the controversial omission of umpire Steve Buckner from the umpire panel. Compared to that, the wrong umpiring decisions of this test is mere human. But those against India in Australia were deliberate decisions by the two mocking umpires.

So let’s wait for the strong comeback from the Aussies in the third test which starts from July 30 at Edgbaston

Afridi finally played a sensible innings in the final of 20-20 World Cup Cricket against the mighty Srilankans. By scoring 54 runs from 40 balls which include 2 fours and 2 sixes, proved that he is now capable of playing matured innings like any senior player in the team.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bat first considering their bowling strength. But Man of the Series, Dilshan went for a duck in the crucial match and Lankan collapsed to 32/4 in 5.3 overs. Then the brilliant innings from Captain Sangakkara helped the Lankans to achieve 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. He scored unbeaten 64 runs from 52 balls with 7 fours. Bowler Angelo Mathews supported him by scoring 35 runs (24 balls, 3 fours, 1 six). Abdul Razzaq was the most successful bowler for Pakistan who took 3 wickets (Sanath Jayasuriya, Jehan Mubarak and Mahela Jayawardene) for 20 runs in 3 overs.

Pakistan started their innings very carefully. Kamran Akaml is in aggressive mood and he quick fired 37 runs from 28 balls (2 fours, 2 sixes). But he fell to Jayasurya and the opener Shahzaib Hasan threw away his wicket to spin wizard Muraleedharan.

Then Shoib Malik and Afridi played a sensible partnership of 76 runs that helped Pakistan to achieve the target in the 19th over itself.

WHY INDIA FAILED IN THE 20-20 CRICKET WORLD CUP?

There is lot of reasons behind every failure. In cricket, these criticisms sometimes look very genuine. When captain is not in good form, his mind is always confused with decision making. Dhoni, a successful captain in recent times, made several mistakes in these World Cup matches. In the absence of dashing Sehwag, Yousuf Pathan was the best option rather than Rohit Sarma for opening the innings with Gambhir. Like Sehwag, Pathan will definitely go after the bowlers without any respect.

In the do-or-die match against England, the bowler who bowled exceptionally well for India was R.P.Singh. He is allowed to bowl only 3 overs which conceded only 13 runs and took one wicket. R.P. is a successful bowler for slog overs, but he didn’t get his expected last over. The economy of Ishant Sarma is not good in the 20-20 version of the game. But Dhoni gave ball to Ishant Sarma who conceded 36 in the allotted 4 overs without claiming any wicket.

Sending Jadeja ahead of Yuvraj and Dhoni himself was a serious mistake. Jadeja is a good all-rounder, but not aggressive player like Yuvraj and Yuvi is in peak form in the previous matches. Jadeja’s score will be good for low scoring matches (25 from 35 balls with only one four) or One Day internationals. It was Jadeja’s good knock that knocked India out from the semi finals.

These are mere thoughts of a cricket lover, it may not be right. But the loss of 3 runs against England compels every cricket fans to think so.

Monday witnessed the exit of two teams from the 20-20 world cup. One team is capable of beating any team in the world and the other team is all time winners of most of the world cups. Yes, Bangladesh, then the mighty Australia (now exaggerating “Australia” with the word mighty)
This is the earliest exit in any World Cup for Australia since they crashed out in the preliminary stage in 1992.

Australian Captain-Ricky Ponting

Man of the match Kumar Sangakkara destroyed the hopes of Australians and knocked them out from the super 8 stage.

Earlier Srilanka won the toss and decided to field first. Australia scored 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Ponting(25 from 15 balls) , David Hussey(28 from 22 balls) and Mitchell Johnson(28 from 13 balls) contributed for Australia. Lasith Malinga and Ajantha Mendis took 3 wickets each.

IPL flourished the talents of players like Dilshan, Devilliers and Kallis. Dilshan opened the innings for Sri Lanka scored 53 runs from 32 balls which include 10 fours. Sangakkara played a sensible innings of 55 urns (42 balls) helped Srilanka to chase the target in 19.1 overs. Jehan Mubarak’s quick fire works (21 from 12 balls) make the target very easy.

So this is a beautiful revenge from the Lankans after their defeat in the World Cup Final against Australia.

Gilly will always perform in Semi Finals and Finals. He will single handedly demoralize every opponents with his blitzkrieg style of batting. Attacking is the best strategy always employed by this wonderful wicket keeper. When Gilchrist is in such a form, any target will not be an uphill task for his team. In the semifinal match against Delhi, Gilchrist won the toss and surprisingly he elected to field first. But Delhi’s batting collapsed in the first over bowled by Ryan Harris. Both the openers went for a duck in the first over and the score board at that time was 0/2.

Any other team takes time to recover from such a sudden collapse. But Delhi’s’ strength, i.e. batting helped them in this game also. Sehwag and Dilshan were in attacking mood. Both played good cricketing shots and helped Devils to score 153 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sehwag (39 from 31 balls, 5 Fours) Dilshan (65 runs, 51 balls, 7 fours, 1 six) De Villiers (26 runs, 2 sixes) are the top performers for Delhi. Though Delhi scored above 80 runs in the 10 overs, they couldn’t perform well in the slog overs. Ryan Harris, whose inclusion at the cost of Dwayne Smith had been questioned by some, was the stand-out bowler returning figures of 4-1-27-3.

Gilchirst started the chasing in style by hitting 5 fours in the first over of the match which is bowled by Delhi’s strike bowler Dirk Nannes. Gibbs again went for a duck in the second over bowled by Nehra. Then Gilly fired and scored 85 runs from 35 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes. In that innings, he reached the fastest half-century in the IPL (in both seasons), getting there in just 17 balls.

After the dismissal of Gilchrist in the 10th over, Symonds played a crucial innings. He scored 24 runs from 15 balls. Then Thirumalsetti suman and Rohit Sarma guided Deccan chargers to a comfortable victory.

Where is John Buchanan? The real 20-20 specialist coach with wonderful ideas? Where is Sharukh?

The two legends behind Kolkata Knight Riders who are merely engaged in multiple captaincy issue rather than planning game strategies before the start of the 2nd version of IPL. Does captaincy is the main problem for Kolkata? In the previous year it doesn’t look so. Because the former captain, Ganguly himself guided their team to thrilling victories against teams like Mohali Kings. But considering the miserable performance of McCullum as a batsman and captain, Ganguly should be reinforced to the Captain’s place.

The bowling changes and fielding arrangements are not satisfactory in the match against Mumbai Indians. Lack of game plans and a captain with no innovative ideas is the main cause of these embarrassing defeats. The opening partnership of Gayle and McCullum didn’t excel as expected. Yet, there is no change is made in that combination. Captaincy burden is clearly affecting the batting of dashing batsman McCullum. Hayden scored 49 runs from 35 with 8 fours. The surprising fact is that there is no six in his innings. For the first time in IPL, super over is introduced after an unpredictable tie. Though only 6 runs were needed in the final over, Calcutta could score only 5 runs. While chasing for an achievable total, sensible batting should be done. Instead, except Chris Gayle and Saurav, all other fellows tightened the situation by poor batting.

Chris Gayle is in good form, he scored 41 runs from 33 balls (2 fours, 4 sixes). After the departure of Gayle, Rajasthan Royals came back into the game with good bowling and fielding. It was Saurav who took the game away from the RRoyals. He scored runs in a dynamic fashion. He hit 2 sixes and 4 fours and he is the top scorer for KRiders with 46 runs from 30 balls.

The real hero of Rajasthan Royals in the allotted overs was Kamran Khan. He gave only 5 runs in the final over, that produced the great tie. Then came the Super Over. It was also bowled by Kamran Khan. Gayle and McCullum opened the innings and Gayle hit 3 fours. Thus the target for the Rajasthan Royals is 16 runs.

McCullum gave ball to their star bowler, Ajantha Mendis. Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja opened the innings in the super over. Pathan is in fantastic form as he hit the first ball for a huge six in the offside. In the 2nd ball he tried to hit another six on the strait and the catch is dropped by KR fielders. He got 2 runs for that shot. He hit third ball for six and fourth ball for a four. He adjudged man of the match award for his brilliant performance in the overall game. This was the real 20-20 match as the batsemen were entirely dominated the whole session. The opening partnership between Parthiv Patel and Hayden produced 106 runs in 10 overs. Parthiv hit 2 fours and one six in his 30 run innings. Hayden hit 2 sixes and 9 fours before he was miserably run out by the direct hit from Dravid. Kevin Peterson and Dale Steyn took one wicket each. Jacques Kallis is the most expensive bowler for Bangalore Royals as his two overs produced 28 runs.

While chasing a good target, it is a common strategy to make successful opening partnership. But Bangalore Royals lost their first wicket of Praveen Kumar without adding any runs to the scoreboard. Though Kallis and Robin Uthappa tried to score the runs in a faster manner, both of them failed to achieve the target. Uthappa out for 20 and Kallis scored 24 runs. Sharukh Khan and John Buchanan, the two legends behind Kolkata Knight Riders were stunned by their team's performance. These two guys simply engaged in controversies about captaincy instead of tactics and game plans. After their game plans, India's most successfull captain, Ganguly lost his turban. The Buchanan appointed captain, Brendon McCullum won the toss and on a pitch, which assisted the bowlers, he made the biggest mistake by opting to bat first.

Both the openers struggling with the uneven bounce and good bowling spells by Fidel Edwards and R.P.Singh. Though Edwards doesn't get any wickets, he is the guy who bowled exceptionally well. Two veterans played their dream game, which helped Royal challengers for a thrilling victory against the previous champions of IPL. Rahul Dravid's innings of 66 runs from 48 balls helped Royal Challengers to score a formidable total of 133 runs. Then Anil Kumble succeeded to get 5 wickets for just five runs in 3.1 overs which include one maiden.

The super star of RC, Kevin Piterson could only score 32 runs and all others disappointed with bat. Dimitri Mascarenhas was the successful bowler for Rajasthan Royals; he took 3 wickets for 20 runs. Shane Warne and Munaf took 2 wickets each.

According to the batting line up of Rajasthan Royals, 133 is not a great target. But they were totally murdered by the good bowling show by Kumble, Praveen Kumar and Jesse Ryder. Yusuf Pathan, Tyron Henderson and Ravindra Jadeja scored 11 runs each. They were all out for just 58 runs in 15.1 overs. The most humiliating defeat for the existing champions.

MUMBAI INDIANS won the first match of IPL 2nd version at South Africa. After winning the toss, Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings decided to filed first. Sachin scored second IPL fifty from 49 balls with 7 fours. Jayasurya scored 26 runs.

It was Abhishek Nair who fired 35 runs from just 14 balls that helped Mumbai Indians to achieve their total to 165/7 in the stipulated 20 overs. He hit chennai's superstar Flintoff for 3 sixes in one over and Flntoff thus becomes the most expensive bowler for Chennai. i.e 44 from 4 overs.

Manpreet Gony took 2 wickets and Flintoff, Thushara, Joginder and Oram took one each.

Even New Zealand Captain Vettori never thinked of that much of runs on the first day itself.But it is the reality, India scored 185 runs in the last 35 overs for the loss of 4 wickets in the fourth test match at Wellington. India's score of 375/9 with a run rate pf 4.17, is the highest they have made in a single day's play in Test cricket. Saheer Khan hit 4 fours in one over bowled by Iain O'Brien. But Iain O'Brien got the consolation wicket of Saheer(33 runs from 23 balls, 6 fours).

Vettori's decision of bowling first surprised even Dhoni also. Gambhir and Sehwag scored 73 runs for the opening partnership. Sehwag scored 48 runs from 51 balls with 7 fours and one six. Gambhir could only managed to score 23 runs. Then Sachin and Dravid came with a crucial partnership of 90 runs which helped India to achieve 164 runs with loss of 2 wickets. John Buchanan, a mask of Greg Chappel

Greg Chappel was a phenomenal coach who really succeeded to give humiliating defeats for India not only in the World Cup but also in other important series. He always engaged in news during the coaching season. He is a man of controversies and a person of innovative ideas. But his tactics never helped India as India lost miserably in the World Cup matches. The same tactics and methods are now employing in the 20-20 version of the game by Kolkata Knight Riders Coach, John Buchanan. What is he meant by the 4-captain plan? If that method is employed, I think there should be a 4 Coach plan also.

Chappel brilliantly destroyed the career of Saurav Ganguly and the same is repeating by the 20-20 Coach. He also lashed out at senior Indian players saying that the Twenty20 format of the game was for youngsters. Remember, Players like Shane Warne, Mathew Hayden , Jaya Suriya, Gil Christ and Pollock excelled in the first version of IPL. Saurav also performed well in the first IPL matches. Then it is evident that the senior-junior categorization is not applicable to 20-20 format of the game of cricket.

So Shah Rukh Khan (team owner) should remember the fact that India won the 20-20 World Cup under one Captaincy. Hence these silly suggestions of the mask of Chappel, should not be taken into account. So keep Sourav Ganguly as the captain for all forthcoming matches of the IPL, other wise the entire team balance will be lost.

Dhoni's men begin New Zealand tour after the sparkling victories in the recent home Test series against Australia and England, and a 4-1 rout of hosts Sri Lanka in a one-day series. Winning a game in New Zealand is a nightmare. India last won a Test series in New Zealand under the captaincy of Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, 41 years ago. On the previous tour of New Zealand, in December 2002, India lost both Tests inside three days with totals of 161, 121, 99 and 154 in the four innings on bowler-friendly seaming wickets. The Kiwis also went on to win the one-day series 5-2.

But expectations are high under the captaincy of Dhoni. Under him, India have won 28 of 46 one-day matches and six of 10 Twenty20 internationals. Only six players in the touring squad have played a Test in New Zealand before. They are Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Dravid, V.V.S Laxman, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh.

India will open the tour with the two Twenty20 matches in Christchurch (Feb 25) and Wellington (Feb 27). Sri Lanka's Sports minister Gamini Lokuge has confirmed Farbrace and Samaraweera were hospitalised while the others have been discharged. "Mahela and the other three received very minor injuries and they have already reached their hotel," Lokuge said

Leg Before Wicket or Luck Before Wicket ?

Umpires play very good cricket now. Talented players like Sachin Tendulkar even struggles before the aggressive bowling attack from Sri Lankan umpires. He declared out by LBW thrice in the three recent One Day matches against Sri Lanka . So can we change the expansion of LBW? Is it Luck Before Wicket?

Similar type of poor LBW decision favours the Australian Team in the first one day match against New Zealand. New Zealand’s aggressive Batsman Brendon McCullum was declared out even though there was a crystal clear inside edge. However in all the above matches, other match winning players of the team led their team to victories.
