Sourav, the Maharaja of Indian Cricket.

Sourav, the Maharaja of Indian Cricket.

The end of an era, the end of sexy sixes, the end of commanding power and the end of a beautiful batting style. Yes, the Maharaja of Indian cricket , Sourav Ganguly decided to retire from International Cricket after the Australian Test series in India. It disappointed not only his entire fans but also those people who love the beauty and classic style of his batting. I think it is not the right time to declare his retirement. He is forced to retire because of the media stunts and selection committee’s internal games. He is in peak form during the Australian Tour and Pakistan’s India Tour. He adjudged Man of the Series in the test series between India & Pakistan. He also scored sparkling maiden double century in that series.

As a successful captain he guided India to victory in 21 Tests out of the 49 Tests played under his cap. He has scored 15 Centuries and 34 Half Centuries in his test career of 109 Tests. He has an aggregate of 6888 runs in the test format of the game. He scored 22 centuries and 72 half centuries in One day cricket and scored 11,363 runs with batting average 41.02.

His best bowling performance, ie 5 wickets for 16 runs was against the archrivals Pakistan in Toronto.

He introduced many talented players like Yuvraj, Dhoni , Irphan Pathan , sehwag and the list continues. Then Dhoni and Yuvraj played major role in eliminating Dada from the one day format of the game. Ganguly and Sachin were the best opening pairs India had ever produced. Ganguly was eliminated from the One Day team only because of fitness (in the words of Dhoni). But the fighting commander of Indian cricket scored Double century against Pakistan after his elimination and mocked Our Youngster Captain and the jokers of the selection Committee.

Other’s Envy Owner’s Pride

1.The only Indian cricketer to have won four successive Man of the Match awards in One-day Internationals.

2. The Indian player who has10000 runs, 100 wickets, and 100 Catches in One Day Internationals. Sachin and Jayasurya are the other players to do so.

Many cricket lovers will definitely miss the offside king’s fabulous fours and sexy sixes in the forthcoming matches after the Australia Series. Kudos to Sourav Chandidas Ganguly for his brilliant contributions to the game of glorious uncertainties.
