SOUTH AFRICA BEAT AUSTRALIA BY 9 WICKETS IN THE SECOND TEST IN MELBOURNE,

Australia is in big trouble now. They lost the 3 Mobile Test series (2-0)and Ponting's men are struggling now with vulnerable form of both Hayden and Lee.

Australia scored 394 in the first innings. Thanks to the brilliant century by Ricky Ponting i.e., 101 from just 126 balls (10 fours and one six) to achieve this formidable total. In reply South Africa lost their seven wickets for 184 runs. Everyone is expecting for a follow on. Then the unbelievable century partnership from the nine th wicket i.e., by Jean-Paul Duminy and Dale Steyn helped them to achieve a huge total of 459. The surprising thing is that South Africa gains 65 run lead in the first innings. (Jean-Paul Duminy-166, Dale Steyn -76)

Then in the second innings Dale Steyn took five wickets and restricted Australians to 247. Australian Captain lost century in the second innings by just one run. If he scored a century in the second innings it will be a world record. (I.e. centuries in both of the innings - four times) Sunil Gavaskar scored centuries in both of the innings three times. Ponting now shares the record with Gavaskar. Only 183 runs needed for South Africa for winning the second test.

The inform batsman and captain of South Africa scored 75 runs from just 90 balls and helped South Africa to achieve this target in the post lunch session itself. Neil McKenzie scored half century.

Australia will waiting at a consolation win in the next test. What a miserable performance by the No1 Team in the recent test matches!

Man of the Match :
Dale Steyn
