SACHIN TENDULKAR RETIRED FROM ODI CRICKET!



Sachin, “The God of Cricket” announced his retirement from One Day Internationals on Sunday(23-12-2012). After 23 years of playing one-day internationals, he has scored 18,426 runs in and his highest score is 200 runs that came in 2010 against South Africa in Gwalior. He has played 463 one dayers and has scored 49 centuries and 96 fifties in this format.



BCCI released Sachin's statement on today morning. It read, "I have decided to retire from the One Day format of the game. I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup wining Indian team. The preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015 should begin early and in right earnest. I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future. I am eternally grateful to all my well wishers for their unconditional support and love over the years."




He made his debut on December 18, 1989, as a 16-year-old against Pakistan in Gujranwala, where he out for a duck. Interestingly, he played his last ODI on March 18, 2012, also against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Tendulkar finishes his ODI career with 154 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls. He scored his first half-century in his ninth ODI His and his first century took 79 ODIs.

SACHIN’S IMPORTANT ODI RECORDS:

1.    Sachin became the first batsman to score a double century in ODI cricket.(200 Not Out)
2.    Sachin was the first batsman in ODIs to reach the 10,000 run milestone.
3.    Sachin holds the record for the most number of centuries in ODI’s.(49 Centuries)
4.    Sachin holds the record for most ODIs played (463).
5.    Sachin holds the record for most ODI runs.(18426) at an average of 44.83.
6.    Sachin holds the record for most number of Man of the Match awards. (62)
7.    Sachin holds the record for most number of Man of the Series awards. (15)
8.    Sachin holds the record for the longest career in ODI Cricket: 22 Years, 91 days.
9.    Sachin is the only cricketer to accomplish the triple in ODIs: 15000 runs (18426), 100 wickets (154) and 100 catches (140).
10.    Sachin is the only batsman to register 8 or more hundreds against two nations: 9 vs Australia and 8 vs Sri Lanka.

11.    Sachin holds the record for most number of runs in World Cup: 2278 runs at an average of 56.95 in 45 matches.

12.    Sachin holds the record for most centuries in World Cups: 6 in 44 innings.

13.    Sachin holds the record for most runs in a single World Cup: 673 at an average of 61.18 in 11 matches in 2002-03.

14.    Sachin holds the record for most runs in a calendar year: 1894 (ave.65.31) in 34 matches in 1998.

15.    Sachin holds the record for most hundreds in a calendar year: 9 in 34 matches in 1998.

16.    Sachin is the first cricketer who is declared run out by the third umpire decision.
